In March, early in the pandemic, we joined in the battle against COVID-19 to supply face shields for area healthcare facilities. Personal protective equipment (PPE) of all types was in high demand and in short supply, and our thermoforming capabilities were well suited to fill the need. As an ISO-certified facility, plastic medical equipment components are one of our specialties, so our design team was eager to begin development.
Since we first reported on our face shield production for the healthcare industry, our team at LINDAR has continued to be hard at work, keeping up with the ever-growing demand.
LINDAR’s medical-grade face shields are used by healthcare, schools, restaurants, and are sold on Amazon.
“Because we already specialize in thermoformed parts, the face shield was a straight-forward design that our production team could manufacture,” said Dave Fosse, director of marketing at LINDAR. “Once the design was finalized, it went to production and assembly and we were quickly underway, providing face shields for those who needed them.”
Although we began fulfilling the orders for face shields for local healthcare hospitals and clinics, we quickly realized the demand for high-quality PPE was in great demand nationwide and beyond. One of our customers is knowledgeable in marketing via Amazon and we were soon promoting our face shields there, as well.
Face shields are now in use beyond the healthcare industry. Many school districts have approved them as a replacement or a supplement to a standard facemask and they are in use in the workplace, retail outlets, restaurants—wherever people can be found in the public.
“What began as a word-of-mouth connection to our local healthcare facilities has expanded exponentially,” said Fosse. “It has been a perfect combination of our expertise being able to assist in providing high-quality face shields to those who need them. While we continue to supply our local area, we are also doing a brisk business on Amazon.”
How brisk? Currently, LINDAR has sold more than ¼ million face shields. And that number continues to rise.
