Rotomold Operator – 2nd Shift
Summary
We are looking for a skilled Machine Operator to set up, maintain and operate machinery. You’ll ensure the interminable and efficient running of production. A great machine operator is reliable and able to work with attention to detail and safety standards. On-the-job training is a good way to discover how to do the job better, so you should have willingness to learn and improve. Being a team player is essential since all tasks will require close collaboration with co-workers. The goal will be to ensure that production procedures will be carried on smoothly to maximize efficiency and profits.
- Job Type: Full-time
- Pay: $20.00 – $24.00 per hour
- Expected hours: 40 per week
- 2nd shift – 2:50pm to 1:10am Monday- Thursday
Responsibilities
- Develop a thorough understanding of machine operation and all related technology and equipment to facilitate efficient rotomolding operation.
- Drive consistent production of rotationally molded parts which meet dimensional, functional, aesthetic and volume requirements
- Ensure that accurate weights of contaminant-free molding materials are measured, prepared and charged for each mold and production cycle.
- Exercising safe and efficient technique and utilizing the proper tools, open and close molds before and after production cycles to ensure consistent and timely production of plastic parts.
- Using appropriate tools and technique, maintain clean flanges to prevent build-up of plastic and ensure proper sealing of molds along parting lines. Remove excess plastic and prepare molds for charging.
- Load powder into molds and ensure complete parting line seal by closing clamps or bolt/receivers. Ensure mold vents are open and clear.
- Cycle mold into the oven for production and curing of the part.
- After a part is fully cooled and cured, remove plastic part from mold, ensuring part is free of physical damage and contamination.
- Perform necessary secondary operations, including part trimming, foaming, graphics application, product assembly & packaging, etc.
- Maintain clean and safe workstation at all times; ensure all materials, molds, and tools are kept contaminant-free and in efficient working condition via periodic equipment maintenance.
- Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement, including reduction of cycle times, minimization of material consumption and elimination of scrap.
- Other responsibilities as the business demands.
Desired Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent with emphasis on shop courses including mechanical and/or metal fabrication.
- Experience in the use of a variety of electrical and pneumatic tools.
- Comfortable maneuvering mold of 75 pounds or more utilizing various types of lifting equipment, forklift, hoists etc.
- Ability to meet the physical requirements in the Physical Activities Checklist with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Understand the work environment conditions as outlined in number 4 below.
- Previous rotational molding experience preferred.
