Payroll/Benefits Manager

Benefit Responsibilities

  • Prepare, coordinate, and distribute employee benefits information to communicate benefit programs, changes and comply with legal requirements.
  • Work with benefit broker, insurance carriers and employees to respond to employee questions, investigate and resolve issues from routine to complex and ensure proper administration of employee benefits and leave programs.
  • Audit systems to ensure benefit enrollments and payroll deductions are accurate. Process any corrections in a timely manner.
  • Monitor benefit administration within Payroll software and work with appropriate partners to troubleshoot and update configuration and integrations as appropriate.
  • Coordinate and manage various benefit events such as financial wellness education, health screenings, 401(k) meetings, annual 401(k) audit and annual open enrollment.
  • Create, maintain and follow benefit procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency of processes.
  • Complete various benefit administration tasks such as reconciling benefit invoices, reviewing and filing employee documentation and responding to requests for information.
  • Work with benefit broker to administer activities to maintain compliance with the Affordable Care Act such as monitoring full-time status, producing annual 1095 / 1094 reporting and handling other federal and state reporting.
  • Prepare and complete various benefit surveys and provide summary of findings and recommendations to management.

Payroll Responsibilities:

  • Compiles payroll data such as hours worked; sales volume, bonuses, and commissions; monies to be withheld for taxes; employee contributions to insurance and retirement plans; from time sheets and other records
  • Computes wages and deductions, reviews for accuracy, and posts to payroll records
  • Updates master payroll records by verifying and recording changes affecting net wages including but not limited to federal and state tax exemptions, insurance coverage, required and voluntary deductions, compensation increases, promotions, and/or transfer of employees between departments or companies
  • Prepares and issues paychecks in paper and digital formats
  • Keeps records of leave pay and nontaxable wages
  • Prepares periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions. This includes weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually or on request
  • Prepares and files all hiring and termination paperwork in coordination with the human resources department
  • Maintains records for leave eligibility including but not limited to vacations, holidays, Paid Time Off and any required state or federal required leave eligibility.
  • Processes employee insurance forms and payments in coordination with human resources department
  • Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures for payroll process
  • Understands the rules and regulations associated with payroll processing at the state and federal level
  • Follows all attendance and punctuality standards with adherences to timekeeping standards
  • Upholds the company’s non-disclosure and confidentiality policies and agreements
  • Attends pertinent trainings and company meetings
  • Coordinate audits work comp, census, 401(k) audit, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • 5+ years of payroll processing experience (experience with in-house payroll preferred)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
  • Be knowledgeable of and comply with payroll and benefit laws and regulations.
  • Reliable, Dependable and able to meet deadlines
  • Extremely detail oriented
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to solve math equations
  • Ability to concentrate and use sound reasoning skills and good judgement
  • Self-motivated
  • Communicate and function well on an interdisciplinary team

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 – $55,000.00 per year
